Edward McElroy Edward McElroy leads one of the fastest-growing labor unions in the United States. McElroy has been involved in the labor movement since 1967, serving as president of the Rhode Island Federation of Teachers, president of the Rhode Island AFL-CIO, and secretary-treasurer of AFT until his election as AFT president in 2004. McElroy also serves on the boards of Working America and the National Labor College.
