Foreign Policies of Emerging-Market Democracies: What Role for Democracy and Human Rights?
On April 14-15, NED's International Forum for Democratic Studies and the Brookings Institution convened an international conference on "Foreign Policies of Emerging- Market Democracies: What Role for Human Rights and Democracy?"
Looking at India, South Korea, South Africa, Brazil, Turkey and Indonesia, participants focused on the impact of their foreign policy goals on the advancement of democracy and human rights. Samantha Power, special advisor to the President and Senior Director for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights at the National Security Council, was the keynote speaker. more |

Parliamentary Forum Takes Shape
NED leaders participated at the most recent meeting of the Parliamentary Forum, a promising new association of current and former parliamentarians who advocate for democratic reform around the world. Forum members pledged their support to Arab democrats at their April meeting in Brussels. more
