On July 15, NED and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum cosponsored a conference marking the 15th anniversary of the genocide at Srebrenica. The event featured a keynote address by Antony Blinken, National Security Advisor to Vice President Biden, as well as panels that included NED grantees Natasa Kandić of the Humanitarian Law Center (Belgrade) and Anisa Sućeska-Vekić of the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (Sarajevo). more

Srebrenica: 15 Years OnUyghur-Han Tensions Examined in Report and Meeting
NED hosted a July 1 meeting to launch the report: Can Anyone Hear Us? Voices from the 2009 Unrest in Urumchi compiled by NED grantee Uyghur Human Rights Project. Two expert panels  explored the 2009 violence, its aftermath, and possible lessons. more

New CIMA Reports
The Center for International Media Assistance has released two new reports. Evaluating the Evaluators examines the strengths and shortcomings of existing media freedom indexes and offers recommendations for improvement, and Covering Corruption examines the impact of reporting about corruption on the incidence of corruption.
