1995 NED Democracy Award honors Heroes of Human Rights and Democracy in Mexico, Rwanda and Russia

The Endowment presented its 1995 Democracy Award to four activists selected by the NED Board of Directors in recognition of their contributions to the cause of democracy. 

Recipients were:

• Sergio Aquayo Quezada, Mexico
• Monique Mujawamariya, Rwanda
• Elena Bonner, Russia
• Sergei Kovalev, Russia
