Prospects and Conditions for a Transition to Democracy in Zimbabwe

On July 31-August 1, the International Forum cosponsored with Stanford University’s Center for Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law (CDDRL) a small workshop on prospects and conditions for a transition to democracy in Zimbabwe. Hosted by CDDRL in Palo Alto, the meeting brought practitioners together with leading experts on democratic transitions, including Michael Bratton (Michigan State), Richard Joseph (Northwestern), Pat Merloe (NDI), Valerie Bunce (Cornell), Harold Trinkunas (Naval Postgraduate School), Larry Diamond (CDDRL), and Diego Abente and Marc F. Plattner from the International Forum.
