Associacão de Jovens para o Desenvolvimento Communitário (Youth Association for Community Development) (AJDC)

To promote civic education, reconciliation and human rights in the communities of Huambo province. AJDC will organize 40 workshops with government administrators and local stakeholders in the four districts of Huambo on human rights, democracy, elections, government, and conflict resolution. The workshops will aim to improve the receptivity of local government officials to constituent concerns and to encourage community members to hold officials accountable.

National Counseling Center (NCC)

To increase the free exercise of citizens' votes and their engagement in public affairs. NCC will continue to increase interaction between constituents and members of parliament through workshops; conduct its street theater civic education program; and produce radio programs and debates on human rights, gender, access to justice, and election information.

To train National Assembly deputies in conflict mitigation and to provide a forum for dialogue between the Assembly and NGOs. SFCG will organize trainings for Assembly members on consensus building, conflict resolution, and constituent representation. SFCG will also build on prior NED grants to increase NGO capacity and organize a joint NGO and National Assembly forum in an attempt to build trust and cooperation between government and civil society.

Action des Femmes des Grands Lacs pour la Paix (Great Lakes Women's Action for Peace) (AFGLP)

Centre d'Alerte et de Prévention des Conflits (Alert and Conflict Prevention Center) (CENAP)

To contribute to the resolution of land conflicts through a study of the problem and the promotion of necessary policy changes. CENAP will hold a workshop on research tools as well as a two-day training workshop for investigators of land conflicts. The Center will then conduct a survey to collect information and data, which will be compiled and analyzed along with the documentary research.

New Generation

To promote positive youth participation and ensure a peaceful process in the upcoming national election. New Generation will create a network of civic education and human rights clubs with youth groups as well as high school and college students. Topics will include previous elections, causes of conflict, and laws that will govern after the current transitional government.

CAJAD will broadcast weekly human rights radio programs, produce a quarterly newsletter, and organize three human rights and democracy conferences. Civil Initiatives for Development with Integrity (CIDI)

CIDI will organize a four-day national conference for NGOs, church groups, government commissions, and the World Bank to brainstorm methods to combat corruption. Nouveaux Droits de l'Homme (New Human Rights)

Congo en Images (Congo in Images) (CIM)

CIM will produce three videos on reconciliation efforts in the region to be aired on a local television station in Kisangani. CDJP will train three hundred elections activists, who will fan out over Maniema, to disseminate information on the principles of human rights, democracy, and the upcoming national elections. CDJP will continue to monitor and provide legal assistance to prisoners and publish the information gathered in a monthly human rights report.

Maniema Libertés (MALI)

To promote a culture of peace and nonviolence in Maniema province. MALI will launch a radio station aimed at increasing the flow of information about democracy through balanced and accurate reporting on the political transition, human rights, democracy, religious tolerance, and the rights of women. Local religious institutions, citizen's commissions, schools, and women's groups will participate in the production and design of the broadcasts.

Mwanga will organize a workshop on the Congolese family code and laws governing marriage for traditional leaders from each of Maniema's seven territories. With the independent think-tank Ethiopian Economics Association, the chambers will train in advocacy skills and articulate the business position.

Grand Africa Media Service Company - The Khartoum Monitor

The Khartoum Monitor will set up an office in Juba and cover the transportation costs of ten correspondents throughout southern Sudan. Kwoto Cultural Center

To promote a democratic culture through cultural awareness and grassroots participation. Kwoto will perform 85 shows in all regions of Sudan to display the richness of Sudanese culture and to highlight relevant issues such as displacement, immigration, peace and justice, human rights, diversity, and conflict resolution. Kwoto will also hold lectures and concerts, organize a lobbying workshop, and publish a book commemorating their tenth anniversary.

Sudan Self-Help Foundation

To promote peaceful coexistence and emphasize the importance of different cultures and values in peace building. The Foundation will conduct democracy and peace building trainers-of-trainers courses in Khartoum and Nyalla, Darfur. Participants will be drawn primarily from internally displaced persons camps and will be trained in human rights, conflict resolution, ethnicity, gender balance, good governance, and the role of civil society.

Sudanese Studies Center (SSC)

Mass Public Opinion Institute (MPOI)

Zimbabwe Election Support Network (ZESN)
