Actions pour la Protection des Droits de l'Homme (Action for Human Rights Protection) (APDH)

To increase Ivorians' understanding of human rights, fundamental liberties, and the rule of law; to promote understanding between the country's diverse ethnic and religious communities; and to improve access to justice for victims of human rights abuse. APDH will document human rights abuses, educate communities about non-violent conflict resolution, provide pro-bono legal assistance, and hold four five-day workshops on peace and reconciliation.
Coalition de la Société Civile pour la Paix et le Développement en Côte d'Ivoire (Civil Society Coalition for Peace and Development in Côte d'Ivoire) (COSOPCI)

To facilitate a credible electoral process in the upcoming elections in Côte d'Ivoire. COSOPCI will organize a national civic education campaign, train election observers, and hold workshops for potential female candidates in both the southern government- controlled region and the northern rebel-controlled area of the country.
International Republican Institute

To improve the capacities of local civil society organizations to participate in the peace process in Côte d'Ivoire. IRI will provide a collective of five civil society organizations with issue advocacy training by holding an intensive workshop for the organizations' members and local peace committees. IRI will also help the collective develop a strategic plan to advance the peace process.
Mouvement Ivoirien des Droits de l'Homme (Ivorian Movement for Human Rights) (MIDH)

To reinforce social cohesion of the country's diverse population and to bring about a lasting peace. MIDH will organize a "Caravan for National Reconciliation" as a massbased, popular approach to peace building. The Caravan will visit northern towns to teach conflict resolution techniques and promote peace and reconciliation through meetings, discussions, and live performances for the public.
National Democratic Institute for International Affairs
$125,000
To foster reconciliation and promote democratic processes in Côte d'Ivoire. NDI will send a consultative expert to meet with leaders in the political, civil society, media, and religious arenas in preparation for a high-profile forum on peaceful elections. The forum will allow participants to devise an electoral code of conduct and encourage their commitment to the democratic process.
