Through a CIPE sub grant, the Institute of Economic Affairs will liaise with the business community and the government to draft rules, regulations, and policies that will guide economic transactions and promote participation and ownership in the process.

CIPE will support the Kenya Association of Manufactures to establish two secretariats in its regional chapters. The program will work to build grassroots membership, foster information dissemination, improve communication between the national and local chapters, and create a public private dialogue at the local level.

To enable the press to contribute to the shaping of public policy on issues of business, the economy, and national development. Through CIPE support, the Inter-Region Economic Network (IREN) will conduct its fourth East Africa media training and produce its weekly online magazine, which will provide information on policies that shape the business environment. IREN will also create support for economic reform that strengthens the economy and the democratic process.
Citizens Against Violence (CAVi)

To form a coalition to ensure free and fair elections. CAVi will organize four meetings for 50 organizations to lay a foundation for peaceful election campaigns, raise resources, and intervene in cases of election- related violence. CAVi will also train 20 university graduates as election monitors in each of the eight provinces.
Family Mediation and Conciliation (FAMEC)

To empower women through human rights education and leadership training. FAMEC will hold a five-day training-of-trainers workshop in Nairobi for 30 women community leaders. The training will provide the participants with an introduction to human and women's rights, democracy, good governance and the rule of law, the role of gender in conflict resolution, and addressing the impediments to women's effective participation in political, social, cultural, and economic life. It will also feature skill-building sessions in dialogue, mediation, negotiation, communication, lobbying, advocacy, and teambuilding.
International Center for Constitutional Research and Governance (ICCRG)

To serve as an intellectual resource on rule of law and constitution issues for the National Rainbow Coalition Government. ICCRG will hold press conferences and issue statements on the state of reform in Kenya and encourage debate among stakeholders. ICCRG will produce publications and write articles in local newspapers to make recommendations to the government on key reform issues.
International Republican Institute

To build the capacity of young parliamentarians to expand their legislative contributions and to encourage political parties to employ an agenda-based approach in promoting legislation. IRI will work with the Kenyan Parliamentarian Association to identify policy priorities and develop a legislative strategy. Party professionals will work with Kenyan parties to develop cross-party alliances through trainings and workshops.
Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR)

To improve the media's ability to combat corruption and to raise awareness among the general population on the costs of corruption. KNCHR will train journalists on press conference questioning, developing contacts for information, and investigative researching. KNCHR will also organize training-of-trainer workshops for community leaders on budget monitoring of local expenditures.
National Democratic Institute for International Affairs

To strengthen the capacity of national political party secretariats and committees and enhance their ability to represent citizens. NDI will conduct workshops on member recruitment and development, message development, party policy formulation, and effective headquarter operations. NDI will also work with thematic committees within each party to provide training in the committee's area of focus.
