To strengthen the judiciary, reduce corruption in public institutions, and increase accountability among local leaders to their local constituents. ADHUC will organize a program of human rights training seminars for local governmental representatives focusing on human rights, accountability, mediation, and the defense of the public's interests. Law enforcement officials from the same city districts will also be invited to participate in the training workshops.
Observatoire Congolais des Droits de L'Homme (Congolese Observatory of Human Rights) (OCDH)
$40,000
To increase respect for freedom and human rights and to assist victims of human rights violations. OCDH will compile reports of human and prisoners' rights abuses. Free legal services will be provided to victims of abuse to facilitate the initiation of formal charges against the perpetrators. OCDH will also organize human rights forums and publish its quarterly human rights newsletter, Lumiere.
