To build the capacity of trade unions in West Africa to be a strong voice for workers' rights and democratic participation within the regional bodies. ACILS will provide financial and technical assistance to the Nigerian Labor Congress and the Ghana Trades Union Congress to increase capacity and to provide educational programs in countries such as Liberia and Sierra Leone that lack strong labor unions.

Foundation for International Dignity (FIND)

To increase awareness about the rights of refugees and displaced persons in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea. FIND will conduct ten training sessions on human rights, refugee law, conflict resolution, and the electoral process. FIND will also conduct a public awareness campaign, provide legal assistance, and advocate for improved access to justice for refugees.

National Democratic Institute for International Affairs

To create a regional initiative to increase the number and expertise of women in politics in Senegal, Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso. NDI will organize a strategic planning seminar for women's civil society organizations and political parties. Training topics will include leadership skills, fundraising, and outreach strategies. NDI will provide technical assistance to program participants including follow up activities and exchange opportunities in order to organize a Sahelian women's network.

West Africa Human Rights Defenders Network

To provide networking and training opportunities for West African human rights NGOs and coalitions. The Defenders Network will establish an office in Ghana to serve as a hub for human rights activity in the region. The Network will bring together 11 coalitions and more than 50 NGOs and organize human rights conferences and courses. The Network will also coordinate with international NGOs to provide capacity-building, training, and fundraising assistance.
