Center for International Private Enterprise

To increase local, small and medium enterprise business input into key economic policy decisions as a component of wider Kenyan democratization. In a partnership with the Kenya Association of Manufacturers, the project will develop local advocacy capacity to ensure that the work of the local councils and decentralized agencies reflects the experiences and concerns of business at the local level.

Citizens Against Violence (CAVi)

To mobilize the youth of Kenya to reject electoral violence in the run-up to and during the 2007 national elections. Using its ties with youth leaders in universities and economically-impacted communities, CAVi will form a national youth anti-violence political campaign that will stand as an alternative to involvement in militia groups.

Economic and Social Rights Centre (Hakijamii Trust)

To encourage the public to hold local authorities accountable for their actions. Hakijamii Trust will strengthen the ability of community groups through civic education trainings designed to build the advocacy and monitoring capacity of community representatives to enable them to participate in and monitor the allocation of public resources that have been devolved by the national government to the district authorities.

International Republican Institute

To aid Members of Parliament (MPs) and political parties in their preparations for the 2007 elections. IRI will conduct small working sessions with MPs and relevant stakeholders to support them in setting legislative priorities and developing implementation plans for these priorities. Additionally, IRI will continue to support the political parties at the national level to focus on issue-based agendas and campaigns.

National Democratic Institute for International Affairs

To strengthen Kenyan political parties by assisting them to strengthen their organizational capacity and build capable and inclusive secretariats and national-level institutions. NDI will work with the parties' National Executive Committees and secretariat officials on professionalizing the structure and management of party headquarters by providing them with training on the technical and organizational skills needed to operate more effectively in the pre-election period.
