To facilitate the free flow of information to citizens in the Gulf and Yemen. AmmanNet will train candidates from Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE, Oman, and Yemen. Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, to use the internet as a broadcast medium for radio programming in their countries. AmmanNet will then provide technical and equipment support to establish an internet-based radio station in each country and three in Saudi Arabia.

To raise public awareness of conditions in prisons and detention centers in the Arab world. APRO will train six NGO leaders and human rights activists from various Arab countries on prisoners' rights and investigative techniques, hold a regional strategy session for leading Arab organizations, and produce the second annual report on prison conditions and the status of penal reform in the Arab world.

FAFC's activities, and the development of these networks, will benefit civil society and the NGO community through knowledge sharing, publicity, and regional cooperation and will break new ground in countries where regional cooperation in the civil society sector is minimal or non-existent.
Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC)

To facilitate the engagement of civil society organizations and democracy activists based in the Middle East and North Africa in the democracy development dialogue with governments in the region as well as international NGOs and Western governments. HRITC will conduct a regional workshop in Sana'a, Yemen, on human rights and democracy for 30 participants from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, Jordan, and Egypt.

To organize the isolated efforts of moderate Muslim women jurists around the world into an active, viable network capable of producing positive change and to encourage the development and dissemination of gender-equitable jurisprudence on women's issues. KARAMAH will consolidate its network of progressive Muslim jurists, train them, and help them communicate regularly on issues of concern to women's rights in the region.

NDI will implement a five-day workshop on the roles and responsibilities of municipal associations and provide the skills and knowledge base to establish an association. NDI will hold consultations and workshops to assist members in developing the framework for the establishment of an association.

NDI will produce a DVD featuring women leaders from the Arab world sharing their knowledge, successes, strategies for overcoming challenges, and advice to women who are entering the political arena. Yemen Youth Development Center (YYDC)

To strengthen the capacity of youth NGOs in the Gulf and Arabian Peninsula. YYDC will invite leaders of youth organizations from Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Bahrain, Oman, and Kuwait to Yemen to participate in a youth NGO capacity-building training program, discuss strategies for expanding the Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Youth Network, and launch a magazine to keep members connected.
