To strengthen the organizational and advocacy capacity of a variety of Mauritanian private sector civil society organizations. CIPE will respond to current political developments in Mauritania to ensure that nascent political openings are not dialed back. CIPE will conduct a diagnostic assessment and business association management program.
National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI)
$299,872
To build the capacity of community leaders to facilitate a participatory dialogue through which they would address local issues and mitigate conflicts pertaining to the return of refugees to Mauritania. NDI will organize in-depth trainings which would strengthen the ability of local leaders to use dialogue as an inclusive approach to preventing violence. NDI will provide on-going technical support to the country’s soon-to-be-established Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
