AJ, working in collaboration with the Nigerian Bar Association, will implement judgment and order compliance registries across the country, organize a media campaign, and publish a list of delinquent agencies or officials in popular newspapers.
Center for Constitutional Governance (CCG)

To promote democratic institutions as fundamental elements of governance, and build the capacity of local government officials to address concerns at the grassroots in the six southwestern states of Lagos, Ekiti, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, and Oyo. CCG will organize consultative meetings, capacity building workshops, and will institutionalize citizen participation through public interest coalitions in each state.
Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE)

To strengthen the role of small and medium enterprises in Nigeria. CIPE will launch a business agenda program at the regional level to drive grassroots participation in Nigeria’s democratic processes. CIPE will initially focus on the South East region, the geographic epicenter of Nigerian commerce.
Centre for Constitutionalism and Demilitarisation (CENCOD)

To educate policy-makers, democratic activists, and the public on democracy issues and constitutional developments in Nigeria as well as in other countries. CENCOD will produce four issues of The Constitution, a scholarly 100-page journal which provides cogent, intellectual perspectives on governance issues. CENCOD will also hold the next installment of its democracy lecture series.
Centre for Development Research and Advocacy (CDRA)

To promote democracy and good governance through public accountability in Local Government Areas, CDRA will organize a citizen-driven public enlightenment campaign in Sokoto and Kebbi states. It will produce participatory training manuals, host training sessions, and collaborate with its Civil Society Network to organize town-hall meetings, social audits, and score-carding of local government authorities. CDRA will also publish an annual development journal.
Centre for Environment, Human Rights and Development (CEHRD)

To promote human rights in Bayelsa, Delta, and Rivers states in the Niger Delta. CEHRD will make regular trips into rural areas to investigate cases of human rights abuse, meeting with victims and local authorities. CEHRD will produce and distribute a monthly newsletter documenting and publicizing cases of abuse, along with an annual “scorecard” report for human rights in the region.
Centre for Human Empowerment, Advancement and Development (CHEAD)

To promote human rights and the rule of law, and to reduce the scourge of extra-judicial killings in southeastern Nigeria. CHEAD will produce a documentary-drama video on the subject of extra-judicial killings in Abia State, and conduct capacity-building workshops for market leaders throughout the state to improve their ability to diffuse violent mob action arising from marketplace disputes.
Christian Foundation for Social Justice and Equity (Equity Foundation)

To create a platform and promote dialogue to address political inequalities and ethno-religious conflicts created by divisions between “indigenes” and “non-indigenes” in Namu and Yelwa communities, both in Plateau State. Equity Foundation will implement community driven activities that use community based resources to promote peaceful coexistence.

Environmental Rights Action (ERA)

To increase support for the gas flare out campaign in the Niger Delta, ERA will conduct environmental parliaments for stakeholders in Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, and Akwa Ibom states. ERA will also organize consultative meetings with members of the Houses of Assembly in each state. ERA will continue its signature collection drive, as well as produce T-shirts and advocacy materials to boost the campaign.
Gender and Human Values Proactive (HUVAP)

To build effective legislative-constituency relationships and grassroots citizen participation in the legislative process in five constituencies in Zamfara State. HUVAP will conduct advocacy visits, organize legislative trainings, collaborate with the state coalition of nongovernmental organizations to conduct community capacity build workshops, and take elected legislators on constituency outreaches to the five constituencies of Bakura, Zurmin, Gusau, Mafara and Kaura Namoda in Zamfara State.
Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA)

To provide a forum for civil society groups in northern Nigeria to organize, articulate, and present a coordinated position on constitutional and electoral reforms to the Electoral Reform Committee. Human Rights Monitor will organize a civil society summit, prepare position papers, and publish its quarterly human rights newsletter, Equal Justice.
Human Rights Justice and Peace Foundation (HRJPF)

To strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations to defend democracy and to equip youth with a non-violent approach to political participation in southeastern Nigeria. Focusing on five states of the southeast, HRJPF will hold stakeholders’ forums on the origin of and solutions to political violence, convene workshops in marketplaces on democracy and accountability, establish democracy vigilance committees, and hold non-violence seminars for first-year university students.
Human Rights Law Service (HURILAWS)

To mobilize and coordinate the opinions of civil society groups across the country on the constitutional review debate, and to promote a participatory response to their proposals from the National Assembly. HURILAWS will participate in public hearings, host a public website, and create a secretariat to compile and streamline the opinions of relevant stakeholders across Nigeria on the constitutional amendment debate.
Independent Advocacy Project (IAP)

To document the cost of financing elected federal legislators in Nigeria in order to provoke vital policy reforms, and provide civil society with information to demand accountability and promote anti-corruption advocacy efforts. IAP will conduct focus group discussions, consultative meetings, and field research in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Kano.
Institute for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (IHRHL)

To raise community awareness on issues of government accountability and address the need for a credible news source in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. IHRHL will publish a weekly newspaper, Humanity Today, that provides critical analysis on political and economic developments in the Niger Delta region. IHRHL will distribute Humanity Today throughout the Niger Delta region and make its content available online.
League of Democratic Women (LEADS)

To facilitate civil society engagement in developing national policies on gender equality in Nigeria. LEADS will analyze the federal National Gender Policy, convene meetings of women’s organizations, collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Women’s Affairs, and propose a strategy for implementing the policy. LEADS will re-produce copies of the policy for wide distribution and will continue to publish its Women’s Advocate magazine in both English and Hausa languages.
National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI)

To support electoral reform efforts that foster participatory and inclusive policymaking. NDI will enhance the ability of Nigerian civic organizations to develop advocacy strategies for electoral reform, increase dialogue between civic groups and members of Nigeria’s newly formed electoral reform panel, and increase civic engagement with the National Assembly on electoral reform issues.
New Initiative for Social Development (NISD)

Niger Delta Environment and Relief Foundation (NIDEREF)

To promote financial accountability and transparency in public service delivery by local government administrations in Rivers State. NIDEREF will continue its informational campaign in four Local Government Areas. It will print and distribute handbills and posters, and produce radio jingles in English and Pidgin English. NIDEREF will also establish a Local Government Resource Center and an interactive website that will provide advocacy tools on local governance for civil society organizations, researchers, and policy makers.
Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP)

To strengthen the anti-corruption legal framework at the federal level, and encourage active local community participation in the anti-corruption campaign. The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project will expand its legislative advocacy to the local level through stakeholder workshops and effective media anti-corruption campaigns in Eti-Osa, Alimosho, and Agege Local Government Areas in Lagos State.
Women Advocates’ Research and Documentation Center (WARDC)

To promote gender equality in the implementation of the federal Niger Delta Master Plan, encourage government responsiveness to gender-based violence, and build the capacity of women’s groups to advocate for their rights. WARDC will assess the new federal development plan, launch an advocacy campaign to encourage citizen participation in the plan’s implementation, and hold conferences with civil society actors and policy-makers to propose a gender-sensitive strategy for the plan’s implementation.
Youngstars Development Foundation Intl.

To encourage young people in their efforts to strengthen democracy in Nigeria and in Africa. Youngstars will expand its multi-faceted educational program entitled “Democracy Series: Participation, Learning and Action Youths” to include young people from select African countries. The three semester program will include activities such as field trips to relevant institutions, legislative internships, and service learning activities. Youngstars will also publish the Young and Emerging Leaders bi-annual magazine.
Youth Society for the Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Social Vices (YOSPIS)

To build the capacity of youth to advocate for their rights, mitigate violence, and promote democracy in northern Nigeria. YOSPIS will hold peer training sessions for leaders of youth organizations who will in turn train others in their communities. YOSPIS will select some of these youth leaders for a democracy internship program. YOSPIS will also broadcast a radio program and hold Democracy Day events to encourage positive youth political participation.
