To strengthen Congolese civil society capacity to monitor the state’s budget, ADHUC will gather civil society representatives from various regions of the country for a four-day workshop on monitoring the management of the budget. The seminar will include case studies and provide practical exercises. Additional funding to cover institutional costs will allow ADHUC to continue to monitor for government excesses and human rights abuses.

Observatoire Congolais des Droits de l'Homme (Congolese Observatory for Human Righs) (OCDH)

To promote the respect for human rights and rule of law among newly elected officials and facilitate dialogue between civil society and government officials. OCDH will organize training sessions for newly elected officials in Owando and Dolisie Provinces on the defense of human rights. OCDH will also continue to monitor and document human rights abuses and provide legal advice and representation to victims of the most serious cases of torture and abuse.

Rencontre pour la Paix et les Droits de l'Homme (RPDH)

To inform the population of its economic and social rights and encourage government transparency and respect of rights. RPDH will hold seminars on a transparency initiative, human rights and the law in Congo, and the media’s role in promoting transparency and rights. RPDH attorney consultants will help torture victims and staff will investigate areas hard-hit by extractive industries and ethnic strife.
