Action Group for Health, Human Rights and HIV/AIDS – Uganda (AGHA)

To build the capacity of CSOs, health workers and policy makers to monitor health sector accountability. AGHA will bring together health CSOs, district health teams, and health sector leadership for a two-day workshop to discuss programs, review data, develop an advocacy plan, and enhance skills to monitor health funds. AGHA will compile a donor calendar to track international contributions to the Ugandan health sector and conduct a media campaign on the issue.
Centre for Women in Governance (CEWIGO)

To enhance the participation of women leaders in local politics to advocate for social reform. CEWIGO will train 30 women from Northern Uganda in Lira and 30 women from Western Uganda in Mbarara, building a critical mass of women that can identify and articulate key socio-economic policy issues, identifying and voting for candidates who address such issues and promote their interests.
Fanaka Kwa Wote (FKW)

To generate a positive and rational discussion about ethnicity and economic well-being. FKW will research, produce, publish, and disseminate a study to establish or dispel myths about affluence, propensity to generate wealth, property ownership, income distribution, and the general economic well-being of selected ethnic sub-groups in Uganda from 1996 to 2006.
Foundation for Human Rights Initiative (FHRI)

To promote human rights in Uganda and strengthen respect for human rights in Uganda’s universities. FHRI will commission the Steadman Group to undertake a national baseline survey on the state of human rights in Uganda. FHRI will produce two thematic human rights reports on land rights and electoral reform issues. FHRI also undertake a human rights education and training program among six universities in Uganda.
Integrated Women Development Programme (IWDP)

To enhance the capacity of communities to demand accountability and transparency from elected leaders in Kyenjojo District IWDP will increase the number of parish associations from five to 20, expand dialogue meetings from 15 villages to 150, and teach community leaders about accountability and transparency. Elected officials on a twice monthly radio program will take live calls from citizens who can get answers to their questions.
International Republican Institute (IRI)

To promote inter-party dialogue, political reform, and conflict resolution. IRI will support the creation of forums between political party leadership, the Electoral Commission and representatives of civil society. The forums will be at the national level and in selected districts, sub-counties, and parishes. IRI will also support the establishment of agendas and action plans for each of these forum designed to link issues of inter-party dialogue, political reform, and conflict resolution.
International Republican Institute (IRI)

To support the development of more effective advocacy on disabilities issues. IRI will focus on creating advocacy networks that expand successful district advocacy campaigns to the regional and national levels. IRI will also support the networks to encourage the national, regional, and district activists to work together to implement advocacy campaigns that engage coordinated efforts between activists at all three levels.
Mitano Development Foundation (MIDFO)

To promote objective decision-making by legislators MIDFO will conduct forums on multi-party democracy and pluralism for 250 district and sub county councilors in Kanungu District. Councilors will hold public events to discuss civic engagement and multi-party politics with constituents. MIDFO will produce public service announcements to be broadcast 360 times by three radio stations that serve southwest Uganda and will distribute t-shirts and flyers with messages about civic engagement.
National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI)

To enhance the ability of women-led civil society organizations (CSOs) in northern Uganda to advocate on the Common Women’s Legislative Agenda (CWLA) by connecting them to local governments, promoting community dialogue on CWLA issues, and collaborating with local governments to communicate community priorities to district MPs. NDI will help CSOs engage local governments in collaborative meetings to define CWLA issues and challenges, and present community concerns to MPs.
National Foundation for Democracy and Human Rights in Uganda (NAFODU)

To enhance the understanding of democratic processes and human rights among the rural and urban populations of southwestern Uganda. NAFODU will raise awareness of human rights and democracy in five districts of southwestern Uganda via a network of district-based human rights support groups and a series of hour-long radio programs.
Platform for Labour Action (PLA)

To strengthen existing civic and political participation initiatives of young people and women working in the informal sector of Lira district. PLA will continue to train its cadre of 375 peer advocates. The peer advocates will conduct a series of civic education sessions in markets, taxi parks, and other public places. PLA will also conduct a media campaign of 10 radio programs.
Uganda Youth Network (UYONET)
$35,417
To strengthen communication and collaboration between young people and local government leaders. UYONET will conduct four comprehensive three-day trainings for 200 youth, drawn from 20 youth groups. UYONET will also support young people in developing District Youth Action Plans, holding dialogue forums, and constructing an advocacy campaign plan around an identified issue of interest for their home constituency.
