To encourage, strengthen, and sustain political engagement among Filipino youth and young professionals in the civic life of the country. The University, which serves as the secretariat for the Force for Genuine Democracy in the Motherland – Pugadlawin, will design 10-12 democracy modules; conduct three training-of-trainers courses; and organize a series of follow-up trainings throughout the country. Additionally, Pugadlawin will hold a national assembly of its core members, trainers, partners, and organizations.
Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE)

To support the Institute for Solidarity in Asia (ISA)’s efforts to encourage responsible citizenship and good governance. ISA will use workshops and training sessions to help public officials, civic leaders, international partners, and the business community create long-term plans for improving governance based on its Public Governance System and Scorecard programs.
Lawyers' League for Liberty (Libertas)
$60,000
To broaden and strengthen a constituency of reform-minded lawyers and law professionals to promote legal and judicial reform, equal access to justice, and the advancement of democracy in the Philippines. Libertas will organize a series of panel discussions on rule of law and democracy, produce a thrice annual publication providing analysis of developments in the justice sector, and advocate for legal reforms.
National Democratic Institute (NDI)
$262,938
To increase the political participation of women in Mindanao as candidates and trained office-holders. NDI will work with the Political Caucus of Women Leaders in Mindanao to facilitate dialogue among women leaders to develop a shared advocacy agenda for increasing women’s political participation. The advocacy agenda will also provide the basis for a campaign to improve the responsiveness of local government to women’s concerns.
