Association for Participatory Democracy ADEPT

To conduct a nonpartisan voter education and mobilization campaign prior to the March 2008 Gagauz Popular Assembly elections. ADEPT will publish and distribute an educational poster, produce voter-education radio and TV clips, disseminate an election related newsletter, and maintain a website providing up-to-date, nonpartisan information on and analysis of electoral issues and candidate platforms, as well as electoral legislation and procedures.

Eco-TIRAS International Environmental Association of River Keepers

To conduct a multi-faceted technical assistance program promoting the long-term survival and development of the third sector in Moldova’s breakaway region of Transnistria. Eco-TIRAS will provide technical assistance to seven NGO resource centers; offer training in fundraising, financial management, publishing, and media cooperation; organize small grants competitions; oversee one-week internships for six NGO activists; and organize a roundtable for NGO leaders and journalists.

Institute for Democracy

To familiarize educators and students with the principles of democracy and leadership while increasing youth participation in Moldova’s April 2009 parliamentary elections. The Institute will conduct training seminars and round tables for educators and students, publish and distribute a book on methods of teaching leadership and democracy, distribute and publish four articles on education for democracy, and create a civic education website.

League for the Defense of Human Rights of Moldova (LADOM)

To promote a free, fair and transparent process for Moldova’s April 2009 parliamentary elections. LADOM will recruit and train 40 long-term and 2,000 short-term election observers, monitor the pre-election period, observe voting and tabulating procedures on Election Day, conduct parallel vote counts, report instances of electoral fraud to government and international authorities, and publicize them in domestic and international media.

National Youth Council of Moldova

To support a nonpartisan voter education and mobilization program for Moldova’s April 2009 parliamentary elections. The National Youth Council of Moldova and the Association of Moldovan Legal Clinics will organize two bus tours, publish more than 37,000 pieces of GOTV materials, and prepare 180 volunteers to inform and mobilize young, first-time, student and rural voters in 16 districts in Moldova, including six university centers.

NGO Center "Contact"

To conduct a nonpartisan voter education and mobilization program for Moldova’s April 2009 parliamentary elections. Contact will organize a GOTV program targeting young, first-time, and student voters utilizing two bus tours, four mobile pavilions, and 40 local campaigns. The program will operate in 16 regions, reaching 150 cities, towns and villages as well as the country’s four regional centers.

PROMO-LEX Association

To strengthen civil society and promote human rights in Moldova’s breakaway region of Transnistria. The Association will monitor rights violations, provide legal assistance, conduct two roundtables on election and human rights issues, organize three training seminars for NGOs, hold a NGO Forum, produce 5,000 leaflets on civic rights, award three micro grants, and produce 12 issues of its monthly bulletin.
