CEJ will create local centers and train local leaders to assist with the administration of cases and to encourage the use of alternative methods of conflict prevention, management, and resolution.

To promote increased accountability and effectiveness of the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) and to encourage public oversight of the actions of government officials. IDEA will continue to receive and investigate complaints about the performance of the AGO, as well as working in the interior of the country with a network of lawyers to promote citizen oversight and accountability of the government, especially with respect to the AGO.

Semillas para la Democracia (Seeds for Democracy) (Semillas)

To strengthen mechanisms of transparency and accountability at the municipal level and to improve citizen participation in the formulation and oversight of local public policies. Through workshops and technical assistance, Semillas will promote citizen participation in the development of public policies that will benefit their communities, especially those concerning the budgeting and use of royalty funds from the Itaipú hydroelectric dam that are distributed by the central government.
