CIPE and the Young Entrepreneurs Associate (YEA) will draft laws that reduce and clarify licensing and registration requirements using institutional capacity techniques and adopting democratic and market-based principles. By continuing to support YEA’s project on public advocacy, CIPE will build the advocacy capacity of the private sector and increase business participation, particularly of entrepreneurs.

Community Media Network (CMN)

To raise public awareness of the activities and functions of parliament and parliamentarians. CMN will summarize and broadcast on its FM radio station 40 weekly summaries of parliamentary sessions and host discussions about their implications. The studio-based programs will also be podcast on CMN’s AmmanNet.net website.

Good Life Studies Center (GLSC)

To increase young people’s awareness of corruption and its effects and to prepare a core cadre of youth campaigners on anticorruption. GLSC will lead five anti-corruption training workshops for 125 youth throughout Jordan, conduct six focus group sessions to involve influential stakeholders from various sectors, and establish its own web portal to serve as a forum for anticorruption activists.

Jordanian Center for Civic Education Studies (JCCES)

To raise civic awareness and participation among university students. JCCES will conduct a civic education program at the University of Jordan in Amman and at Mu’tah University in Kerak, south Jordan. The course will be based on a training module that JCCES has customized for university students in Jordan.

Land and Human to Advocate Progress (LHAP)

To raise civic awareness and engagement among young people in rural Jordan. LHAP will lead its provincial school parliament program in the Bani Kenanah region. The Provincial Students Parliament will meet a minimum of six times to discuss issues facing their schools, and select representatives to attend the local government’s monthly Executive and Consultative Council session.

National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI)

To provide Jordanian women in elected office with technical assistance and support to better perform their public duties. NDI and the Women Helping Women network will provide consultations for women MPs and municipal councilors on leadership, communications, legislation, and good governance; training for members and NGOs on strategic planning, program oversight, media outreach, negotiation, messaging and communications; issue-based seminars with women in elected office and their respective constituencies; and a monthly WHW newsletter.

Partnership Center for Democracy (PCD)

To develop a national agenda on political and civic reform, to train a pro-democracy youth cadre, and to build the capacity of an NGO in the Madaba region. PCD will lead a 12-day training course and 35 seminars, develop a 50-page foundational document, produce 7 fact sheets and 7 policy papers, and establish its headquarters office in Madaba.

al-Urdun al-Jadid Research Center (UJRC)

To enhance media, government and business trust and understanding of the role of civil society institutions in oversight, reform and decision-making. Building on two years of study days that fostered discussion and interaction among dozens of civil society organizations, UJRC will lead six roundtable discussion in Amman that promote civil society engagement with media, government and the private sector.
