Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE)

To educate young people on the meaning of free enterprise, entrepreneurial skills, and business management, and to obtain institutional support that will ensure opportunities for greater numbers of Lebanese youth to develop their leadership and entrepreneurial skills.
Development for People and Nature Association (DPNA)
$42,000
To raise awareness of young people’s role in Lebanese political parties, specifically as this relates to the upcoming parliamentary and municipal elections. DPNA will lead 10 one-day awareness sessions for 200 young people aged 25 to 35 on youth involvement in political parties. DPNA will also organize six discussion groups and nine fora on the relationship between youth and political parties.
Justice Without Frontiers (JWF)
$30,000
To strengthen a network of lawyers who defend human rights victims. JWF will lead two one-day trainings for attorneys and NGO representatives on legal protection and defense for human rights victims in Lebanon; conduct three one-day workshops for women; and expand into the school system in Beirut. JWF will also mentor its human rights-trained lawyers as they provide pro bono legal consultation and services.
The Lebanese Center for Active Citizenship (LCAC)
$30,000
To advance youth civic engagement. LCAC will produce and distribute six issues of its youth news magazine, al-Muwaten (the Citizen), and conduct two two-day workshops on forming advocacy coalitions.
Lebanese Foundation for Permanent Civil Peace (LFPCP)
$45,000
To engage politicians, journalists, and civic activists in advocating better socio-economic rights in Lebanon and in compliance with international laws and standards. LFPCP will publish 15 reports on the state of social and economic rights in Lebanon, present its findings at four half-day seminars, lead two information sessions, and working with the new Economic Journalists Association to conduct 10 studies regarding media coverage of socio-economic issues.
National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI)
To support Lebanese civil society organizations in advocating for more transparent and participatory processes in municipal and national political institutions, and to promote a better understanding of citizens’ viewpoints in policy-making through the use of qualitative public opinion research, namely focus groups. NDI will encourage greater women’s participation in Lebanese politics and share best practices with local and regional partners, as well as further their advocacy and reform efforts through programmatic exchanges.
Rural Women and Development (RUWAD)
$25,000
To heighten awareness among rural Lebanese that women’s rights are an integral aspect of basic civil and political rights and to build the capacity of an NGO operating in rural Lebanon. RUAD will conduct women awareness raising sessions in Ksar Naba and five surrounding villages.
Sho'oun Janoubiyeh (Southern Issues) (SI)
$65,000
To strengthen a forum for dialogue and to energize civic debate among all citizens of southern Lebanon, and to nurture a culture of participation, democracy and public interest among Lebanese journalists. SI will publish 12 issues of its monthly publication that encourages understanding and provides for a wide array of citizens to express their opinions on southern Lebanon related issues.
Tamkeen
$90,500
To raise human and women rights awareness among women in Lebanon’s various confessional communities. Tamkeen will work with its team of eight trainers to lead eight series of two-hour workshops for a minimum of 167 women on women empowerment at NGOs and schools throughout Lebanon. Tamkeen will also conduct training of trainer courses to transfer its training skills to a second generation of trainers on women empowerment.
