To promote a human rights culture in the Gaza Strip. Al-Dameer will train 150 social and political activists from Gazan universities on human rights standards and application, and work with this youth cadre to hold 10 public meetings on human rights. The association will also lead introductory training course for 30 university staff, and 65 school teachers.
American Center for International Labor Solidarity

To improve the capacity of Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions (PGFTU) policy experts to represent PGFTU policy positions and build support for these positions in civil society and government. The Solidarity Center will assist the PGFTU in becoming the leading Palestinian voice for job creation and worker rights in Palestine. The Solidarity Center will also conduct programs aimed at building strong sector unions, both at the national and local level.
Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE)

To foster support and compliance with corporate governance standards and the democratic values they represent among Palestinian firms. Private sector engagement and buy-in is integral to this effort. CIPE and CPSD will work jointly with the Palestinian Corporate Governance Task Force on the development of corporate governance codes, technical assistance regarding mplementation of the codes in selected West Bank businesses, and on fortifying the business and regulatory environment for good governance to flourish.
Civic Forum Institute (CFI)

To promote grassroots civic action and to strengthen local civil society organizations’ ability to manage civic action campaigns. The Civic Forum Institute will strengthen 11 geographically based grassroots civil society coalitions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. CFI will provide training on government policies, legislation, networking and advocacy for local NGOs, and mentor them as they design and implement civic action campaigns and town hall meetings.
Civitas Institute

To strengthen citizen oversight to and interaction with elected representatives and to establish solid communication skills between citizen and elected representatives. Civitas will provide workshops on advocacy and monitoring to train 50 additional members of neighborhood committees (NCs) to strengthen their oversight to and engagement with their local councils and conduct two training courses for previously trained NC members from Gaza’s five districts on communication and polling.
The General Union of Cultural Centers-Gaza (GUCC)

To promote youth engagement in, and oversight of, national youth-related budget items. GUCC will lead trainings on budget analysis and campaign management for its 30-member Leadership Youth Committee, and each trainee will then lead two two-day awareness workshops at youth centers in their home districts. It will also lead a regional campaign for changes to the national budget that better respond to youth concerns and priorities.
Holy Land Trust (HLT)

To provide isolated communities with nonviolence conflict management skills and to support the emergence of a network of nonviolence trainers and instructors. HLT will train a core group of trainers on nonviolence conflict resolution and support their effort in conducting nonviolence sessions in these communities.
Jerusalem Center for Women (JCW)

To expand and enable a group of Palestinian women activists to effectively present Palestinian women’s perspectives at public fora. JCW will implement a progressive series of 20 bi-weekly workshops. The workshops will highlight critical socio-political topics affecting Palestinian women and to strengthen participants’ presentation skills of these topics at high level meetings and public fora.
Musawa - the Palestinian Center for the Independence of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession

To strengthen locally-based groups of lawyers and law students to become legal educators and share their knowledge on rule of law, human rights, and democracy issues with local populations. Musawa will lead four five-day training courses on key pieces of labor-related legislation for attorneys. Trained attorneys will then lead awareness seminars for workers in government ministries, the private sector, and civil society organizations on their rights in the workplace.
Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research (PSR)

To empirically assess Palestinian democracy. PSR will conduct a public opinion poll and publish and distribute its 2008 Democracy Index, as part of its multi-year effort to measure Palestinian democracy.
Palestinian Center for Research and Cultural Dialogue (PCRD)

To promote civic awareness among marginalized Palestinian youth in the Bethlehem area. PCRD will target 100 young people from five locations in the Bethlehem district and conduct discussion groups on democracy, human rights, civic rights, citizenship, cultural dialogue, and acceptance of “the other,” as well as form a core group of 20 young people for follow-up youth projects.
Palestinian Commission for Refugee Rights Protection (PCRP)

To strengthen the leadership skills of a core group of young democratic leaders in Gaza and to enhance citizen interaction with and oversight of their elected representatives. PCRP will train a core group of 20 moderate student leaders in Gaza and conduct 60 public meetings to enhance citizen interaction with and oversight of their elected representatives.
Palestinian Development Forum (PDF)

To promote tolerance, pluralism, and diversity of opinion among young people in Gaza. PDF will lead five half-days of training on tolerance and peace for 30 young people who will then conduct 300 awareness sessions in secondary schools. PDF will also lead an awareness campaign on youth as catalysts for societal peace.
Palestinian Initiative for the Promotion of Global Dialogue and Democracy (MIFTAH)

To enhance the communication skills of emerging political leaders and to built on young community leaders’ capacity to engage their community on issues of democratic citizenship. MIFTAH will lead two capacity building workshops and five town hall meetings.
Women's Affairs Technical Committee (WATC)

To strengthen a women’s empowerment network as it raises community awareness of women’s rights and their role in Palestinian democratic development. WATC will provide advanced leadership training to 60 women who are active participants in WATC’s Sanabel network of rural women.
