Altagheer will improve its daily Arabic news website and ensure wider coverage of current developments in Yemen and easier access to independent information. Altagheer will also hold four seminars in Sana’a for members of civil society on political developments in the country.
Article 19: Global Campaign for Free Expression

To raise awareness on freedom of information in Yemen. Article 19 will train 40 journalists on right to information and investigative reporting, support the Yemen Parliamentarians against Corruption in drafting a Right to Information law and a national campaign strategy, hold a roundtable discussion about the proposal, and work with HOOD to implement a campaign for the adoption of the proposed law.
Brothers Association for Development and Social Peace (BADSP)

To empower local council members in dealing with tribal conflict issues in four districts of Shabwa governorate. BADSP will conduct four two-day workshops on tribal conflict for 25 local council members in four districts of Shabwa governorate and will then monitor the number of tribal conflicts in the four targeted districts.
Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE)

To raise public awareness on the extent of corruption and its impact on daily lives and its cost to Yemeni society and economy. CIPE will produce and distribute a documentary highlighting the extent of corruption in Yemen and recommending policy solutions for viewers to advocate towards. CIPE will distribute copies of the film to engage discussions with policy makers and opinion-leaders throughout Yemen through its network of existing partners, civil society organizations, Yemeni universities, and high schools.
Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE)

To promote Yemeni political parties’ engagement of civil society organizations in developing economic platforms. CIPE and the Political Development Forum of Yemen will conduct workshops for both the ruling political party and the opposition parties on the need for economic platforms, the mechanics of their creation, and methods to promote them through party journalists and activists. This program will also emphasize the inclusion of private sector civil society institutions in the platform building democratic process.
Civic Democratic Initiatives Support Foundation (CDF)

To build capacity of elected local council members in cooperative and participatory planning, transparency, and accountability in carrying out their duties. CDF will continue working with local councils and NGOs to strengthen good governance and increase citizen participation in 100 Yemeni districts. In addition, CDF will conduct a voter education campaign to encourage women and young people to register to vote.
Civil Development Foundation (CDF)

To encourage youth political participation in Yemen. CDF will conduct a progressive training series comprised of ten, five-day monthly courses for 60 youth activists in four major cities in Yemen, Aden, Hudaida, San’a, and Hadramawt. The training series will cover leadership skills, democratic principles, human rights, and political participation. Each trainee will also be placed in an internship at a civil society organization.
Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC)

To enhance the capacity of the human rights clubs and student leaders in leadership skills, project management, democracy and human rights principles. HRITC will provide capacity building training for a group of 21 student leaders and help them implement a small program to engage students in leading, designing and conducting their own civic activities.
Madar Legal Foundation

To build the capacity of a cadre of women lawyers activists to promote women’s rights. Madar will train 150 young women lawyers from Sana’a, Aden, and Hodaidah on legal performance with enhanced technical skills and will assign a mentor from the organization for each participant to provide ongoing advice and additional skills training when needed.
National Cultural Center for Youth (NCCY)

To enhance youth participation in the political process and provide a forum for young people to engage public representatives in dialogue and debate. NCCY will to conduct 10 town hall or “Youth Court” meetings on democracy education and awareness campaign for 150 young people in Taiz governorate.
National Forum for Human Rights (NFHR)

To strengthen the institutional capacity of 20 NGOs outside of Sana’a. NFHR will lead a capacity-building program for members of leading organizations from al-Hudaidayh, al-Mahweet, Hajjah, Raymah, and Taiz governorates. NFHR will lead two capacity building workshops followed by community assessment seminars, and a one-day conference for members of civil society.
The National Organization for Defending Rights & Freedom (HOOD)

To enhance the capacity of 30 political party representatives from four governorates of Sana’a, Aden, Taiz, and al-Hudaidah, to conduct human rights advocacy and awareness campaigns. HOOD will conduct an intensive advanced human rights capacity-building program consisting of a three-phase series of workshops consisting of theoretical and practical training in human rights monitoring and advocacy.
National Organization for Developing Society (NODS)

To provide local imams and women religious teachers in five governorates with transferable skills in democracy, human rights, and communications skills. NODS will conduct advanced training for 20 previously trained imams and murshidaat on democracy and human rights, and interpretive methodologies for their application within an Islamic framework, who will then train 150 of their counterparts in five additional southern Yemeni governorates.
Social Democratic Forum (SDF)

To raise awareness of transparency and anti-corruption issues among local council members and community activists in Aden. SDF will lead a four-day workshop on accountability and transparency for 20 local council members and eight community activists from Aden, and will then create a coordination and follow-up committee in support of its anti-corruption campaign.
Women Journalists Without Chains (WJWC)

To raise awareness of human rights violations and corruption in Yemen and expand public support of democratic development. WJWC will develop an in-house audio and video media production capacity and produce 11 social media clips including documentaries, radio programs, interviews, and news coverage of civil society activities.
Yemeni Female Media Forum (YFMF)

To build the capacity of young women journalist in order to promote greater women participation in public life. YFMF will to conduct a series of seven training courses for 37 female journalism students from Sana’a University on monitoring skills and basic gender and human rights issues.
Yemeni Observatory for Human Rights (YOHR)

To monitor, document, and report publically on human rights conditions in Yemen. YOHR will conduct a year-long monitoring program in 12 major provinces using 12 trained field observers and 20 researchers and experts. YOHR will compile and publish its fourth annual human rights report; hold a media strategy session to promote human rights; and provide legal aid to victims of human rights violations.
Yemen Center for Civil Rights (YCCR)

To promote fair and non-violent practices in election campaigns. YCCR will solicit the public commitment from Yemen’s main political parties to an ethical agreement for election campaigns. YCCR will then hold four one-day group discussions to promote the agreement and mobilize support among the parties’ members in four Yemeni provinces. YCCR will work 40 Yemeni youth to monitor the parties’ commitment to the agreement in their election campaigns.
Youth Leadership Development Foundation (YLDF)

To enable nascent NGOs in the Ibb and Hadramawt provinces to play an effective role in advancing human rights. YLDF will conduct a needs assessment followed by a training-of-trainers workshop for 16 organizations on capacity-building topics including human rights and project design. Representatives from each organization will attend the two week workshop and develop work plans for implementing human rights education in their organizations.
