To strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations to monitor the state’s budget management. ADHUC will train members of civil society to provide budget oversight at the local level and lobby the government for improved internal financial controls.

Commission Justice et Paix (CJP)

To improve the respect of socio-economic rights of river communities near oil and mining installations in Kouilou Department through the reinforcement of civil society’s capacity to identify and document such violations. CJP will help investigate violations of socio-economic rights in river communities and produce a report on such violations.

Observatoire Congolais des Droits de l’Homme (OCDH)

To promote the rule of law and more transparent presidential elections in 2009. OCDH will hold election observation training sessions to prepare a team of 55 observers to report on the elections. OCDH will also produce its annual report on the country’s human rights situation, produce a quarterly newsletter, and provide legal help in human rights cases.

Rencontre pour la Paix et les Droits de l’Homme (RPDH)

To raise awareness of the population’s socio-economic rights and encourage government authorities and private companies to respect laws on human rights and transparency. RPDH will continue its lobbying campaign on respecting these rights, conduct field trips to document abuses, provide legal assistance to human rights victims, and organize seminars on the validation process of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI).
