American Center for International Labor Solidarity

To improve the capacity of activists in the legal profession, NGOs, and trade unions to use legal norms and channels to enforce core labor and human rights standards in the region. The Solidarity Center will support legal aid and law reform initiatives to advance worker rights in China, Thailand, and among Burmese exiles and migrants, and provide legal assistance to trade unions, human and worker rights advocates, and other community activists through the Solidarity Center’s offices in Asia.

American Center for International Labor Solidarity

To promote freedom of association by building the capacity of trade unions in the automotive sector in Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. The Solidarity Center will work with local partners to implement training programs on advocacy, strategic planning, and organizing. The Solidarity Center will also support a mentorship program.

American Center for International Labor Solidarity

To expose local labor practitioners to internationally recognized core labor standards. The Solidarity Center will utilize a variety of avenues for dialogue and education that will provide detailed information on the features of rights-respecting labor relations systems to encourage improvements in new and revised labor laws. The Solidarity Center will also seek to improve the capacity of migrant workers in other countries to understand and protect their legal rights.

Asia Center for Human Rights

To strengthen regional awareness and cooperation on cross-border human rights issues in the Asia region. ACHR will hold annual forums to increase cooperation in responding to and preventing human rights abuses in the Asia region, and to raise awareness among young activists about regional and universal norms through which to address human rights problems.

Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL)

To strengthen the capacity of domestic election monitoring bodies in the Asia region as well as the regional network itself and to increase cooperation and regional solidarity. ANFREL will organize short- and long-term observations of select elections and organize workshops on election monitoring, voter education, election systems, and good governance.

Polish Humanitarian Organization
$24,500
To assess humanitarian needs in Asia so that a long-term humanitarian aid program can be initiated. The assessment team will develop a detailed plan for institutional engagement in humanitarian projects and will produce a report that includes recommendations for a specific course of action.
