Antenna Foundation Nepal

To raise awareness among the general public of the constitution drafting process. Antenna Foundation will produce a live radio talk-show that allows listeners to call in and engage with program guests on Nepal’s political transition. Antenna Foundation will also conduct capacity-building trainings for reporters and producers of local stations on the development of feature stories, which will be incorporated into the national radio program.

Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE)

To improve rural media coverage of market-oriented economic policies and to enhance the capacity of local reporters to cover business and economic concepts. CIPE and the Nepal Press Institute will expand their economic journalist training program by offering four five-day workshops that target economic and business reporters. The approximately 25 participants for each workshop will explore basic free market and business concepts.

Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE)

To engage youth in Nepal in a discussion of democratic and economic reforms. CIPE will work with Samriddhi to strengthen its institutional capacity and to bring youth together through workshops and entrepreneurial clubs to create a core of future policymakers interested in the nexus between a market-based economy and democratic freedoms.

Informal Sector Service Centre

To facilitate dialogue among constituents about the constitution-making process and to ensure that the new constitution embodies human rights norms. The Informal Sector Service Center will support efforts to include citizen input into the constitution-making process, train Constituent Assembly members of international human rights norms and their relevance to the constitution, and monitor Constituent Assembly proceedings.

Jagaran Media Center

To raise awareness about the rights of marginalized communities and methods used to ensure the protection of those rights in the Nepal’s new constitution. Jagaran Media Center will develop a handbook on the situation faced by Nepali Dalits and mechanisms for their political inclusion, publish a magazine focused on raising awareness about Dalits, and provide support to Dalit Constituent Assembly members in their efforts to advocate for an inclusive constitution.

Nepal National Dalit Social Welfare Organization (NNDSWO)

To promote Dalit rights and to increase Dalit participation in the political process in rural Nepal. The NNDSWO will conduct a wide-raging program, including advocacy and capacity-building components to raise awareness among Dalits of their rights and encourage the full participation of Dalits in Nepali society and public life.

Search for Common Ground

To enhance youth participation in community-level decision making in Nepal. Working with local partners, Search for Common Ground will facilitate the establishment of links and cooperation between adult decision-makers and youth at the community level through a series of meetings, workshops, and monthly dialogues.

Youth Action Nepal
$30,000
To engage youth in the civic life of the country and to encourage youth organizations to take a more active role in the current political process. Youth Action Nepal will host a seven-day study session on democracy and human rights and organize trainings and workshops on enhancing youth participation in the political process at the local and national level.
