The organization will work with Cuban pro-democracy activists to enhance their understanding of the EU – Cuba bilateral negotiation process and improve their capacity to advocate before the EU for the inclusion of human rights into the negotiation agenda with the Cuban government.

To strengthen the capacity of independent media professionals in Cuba. The organization will provide them with training and technical assistance to produce uncensored content on social, political, economic, and cultural developments in Cuba. It will also build the technical capacity of independent organizations throughout Cuba to carry out initiatives aimed at increasing the free flow of information.
Constitutional Reform in Cuba

To deepen collaboration between proponents of constitutional reform in Cuba and to raise awareness of these proposals in Latin America. Two major conferences will feature discussions with specialists on constitutional reform in Latin America and Cuba. A portal will also be established to aggregate proposals and give voice to debates and analysis on constitutional and legal reform in Cuba.
Cuba Archive: Promoting Historic Memory and Transitional Justice

To strengthen the historic memory of human rights violations in Cuba and to contribute to domestic and international dialogue regarding truth, transitional justice, and reconciliation within society. The group will document and report human rights cases to expand its database. Cuban Voices: A dialogue between Mexican and Cuban Civil Societies Toward Political Change in Cuba

To foster understanding of the lessons of Mexico’s democratic transition among Cuban democrats and present the views of Cuban democrats among the Mexican political and foreign policy establishment. The organization will carry out a series of public and private workshops and dialogues between Cuban democrats and journalists and Mexican social, political and business leaders. The grantee will sponsor a training and exchange program between Cuban youth leaders and Mexican organizations.

To enhance access to information in Cuba. The organization will expand upon an existing online platform, which enables access to uncensored web-based information through email. This platform also provides online education, web publishing and social news services.

To promote citizen oversight of municipal governments. The group will coordinate and assist with the consolidation of four observatories in Cuba, and train its leaders to document and present the people’s demands to municipal governments. To promote respect for human rights defenders and accountability for human rights violations in Cuba. The grantee will work with partners on the island to document human rights violations; publicly expose perpetrators; report the cases to international human rights organizations; and seek protection for victims. The grantee will also run a campaign to raise awareness of the consequences of committing human rights violations under international law.

To enhance the capacity of women in leadership positions to strengthen their organizations by incorporating a gender perspective. To strengthen the capacity of Cuban civil society activists to promote democratic and pluralistic elections on the island. The grantee will provide technical assistance to local partners to educate citizens on internationally recognized standards for free and fair elections.

To strengthen the capacity of independent Cuban lawyers on international human rights mechanisms. The grantee will invite Cuban lawyers to participate in its annual human rights training courses. It will also facilitate efforts to raise awareness about the human rights situation in Cuba.
