To improve municipal government responsiveness to citizen needs and priorities; to strengthen mechanisms for meaningful inclusive and participatory decision-making; and to expand national and regional networks of good governance practitioners. The Institute will work with governments and civil society from eight municipalities in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras to develop policies that respond to citizen needs.

National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI)
$500,000
To promote greater collaboration between government officials, political parties, and civil society leaders to address public security challenges in Guatemala and El Salvador. By improving the quality of the interaction among responsible government officials, legislators and representative CSOs on these issues, the program seeks to encourage the development of public security policies that better reflect civil society concerns and recommendations.
