To increase the impact of its grant-making, NED established the Fund for Democracy in the 21st Century. Through the fund, foundations, corporations, and individuals can further the democratic cause by supporitng NED’s efforts to foster networks of cooperation and assistance and to support research and understanding of democratic change, which are not supported by our Congressional appropriation such as:
- Connect and empower future democratic leaders of the world through support for the work of the World Movement for Democracy, a collaborative global network of democrats engaged in advancing democracy worldwide.
- Provide Support to human rights defenders in need of temporary safe haven and exiled advocates seeking to continue their democracy work while rebuilding their lives in the United States.
- Advance research, discussion, and analysis on the theory and practice of democracy around the world through NED’s International Forum for Democratic Studies.
- Improve efforts to promote independent media in developing countries around the world through NED’s Center for International Media Assistance (CIMA)
