Tapiwa Chisakaitwa

Director, Compliance

Tapiwa Chisakaitwa is the Director, Compliance at NED. In this capacity, he leads the Compliance team responsible for monitoring NED’s grantees’ compliance with Federal rules and regulations, and NED’s grant-making policies and procedures. Tapiwa brings a unique blend of skills and considerable international experience based on more than 15 years in public accounting, internal auditing and non-profit management.

Prior to joining NED, Tapiwa was the Director of Internal Audit for International Operations at East West Management Institute (EWMI). He was responsible for ensuring compliance by grantees and EWMI field office personnel with various rules and regulations under global projects funded by a variety of international donors such as USAID, DOS, DFID and SIDA. Tapiwa has extensive experience in developing, streamlining, and conducting training on, various organizational policies and procedures. He has directed a global project based fraud prevention program and has demonstrable experience in identifying and investigating fraud, waste, and abuse.

Tapiwa earned his Bachelor of Accounting Science degree from the University of South Africa and is both a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). Earlier in his career, he worked at international accounting firms such as RSM (McGladrey & Pullen) and Deloitte. Tapiwa is a founding Board Member and the Treasurer of the Rustin Fund for Global Equality.
