Dr. Tsveta Petrova
Dr. Tsveta Petrova was, until recently, a postdoctoral fellow at the Harriman Institute at Columbia University. She completed a fellowship at Harvard University’s Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies in 2010–2011 and received her Ph.D. in political science from Cornell University in 2011. She is the recipient of several and research awards as well as many fellowships and grants. Her articles have appeared in Comparative Political Studies, Europe-Asia Studies, and most recently, in the Journal of Democracy. During her fellowship, Dr. Petrova is working on a book-length manuscript that examines the democracy promotion efforts of several new democracies. She plans to build on her dissertation, which examines the successful traditions of the Eastern European members of the EU from recipients to donors of democracy assistance. She intends to compare the efforts of the post-communist counties to the efforts of new democracies from other regions of the world and to reflect on regional differences in democracy promotion.
