Ms. Gabool Al-Mutawakel
Ms. Gabool Al-Mutawakel is a co-founder of the Youth Leadership Development Foundation (YLDF), a Sanaa-based NGO that seeks to strengthen and support the leadership capabilities of Yemeni youth. Currently senior consultant in project design, monitoring and evaluation, she has previously served as YLDF’s general manager, in which capacity she oversaw the management and resource development efforts of the organization and directed two of its centers, the Girls’ World Communication Center and the Youth Economic Development Center. A seasoned trainer in youth leadership and project management, Ms. Al-Mutawakel has managed training projects for nearly 500 human rights activists. Prior to joining YLDF, she worked in the Sanaa office of AMIDEAST, an American educational NGO. During her fellowship, Ms. Al-Mutawakel identified ways of strengthening cooperation among Yemeni human rights organizations by: (a) examining networking methods among U.S.-based groups; and (b) developing a set of best practices that she consolidated into a training manual.
