John Burgess discussed his new CIMA report, Evaluating the Evaluators: Media Freedom Indexes and What They Measure, which examines the strengths and shortcomings of media freedom indexes-in particular IREX's Media Sustainability Index, Freedom House's Freedom of the Press, and Reporters Without Borders' Press Freedom Index- and offers recommendations to improve these and other studies.
