Fighting Corruption in Local Government in Cambodia

Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE)

To promote best practices among coalitions of grassroots NGOs and small enterprises to mitigate incentives for corruption in local government procurement and improve public awareness on citizens’ right to demand good governance and accountability. The center will work with a local partner to strengthen its procurement monitoring program and build the capacity of the partner as a leader in good governance and advocacy.

 

Increasing Citizen Participation and Government Responsiveness at the Subnational Level

International Republican Institute (IRI)

 $200,000

To strengthen transparency and accountability and increase political participation at the subnational level in Cambodia. The institute will conduct trainings to increase citizens’ knowledge of government processes, empower them to engage with local officials, and build the capacity of local officials to be responsive to citizens’ needs. These trainings will prepare citizens and councilors for conflict resolution through public forums.

Strengthening the Voice of Women Entrepreneurs

Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE)

To empower Cambodian women entrepreneurs to play an important role in policy discussions on economic reform issues. In this project, the center will strengthen the institutional capacity of a Cambodian women’s business association by holding a series of workshops to improve the management and organizational skills of the staff and directors.
