It will also help to bridge the gap between parties and citizens by providing youth with the platforms and skills necessary to voice concerns and engage in discourse on issues related to Malaysia's democratic development.

Description: To support Malaysia's democratic transition following the historic May 9 elections. The institute will work to strengthen the ability of government and opposition elected officials to meet their mandates and constituents' needs through the promotion of democratic, citizen-centered governance practices and skills and knowledge needed to build consensus around shared concerns. The institute will also continue to support increased youth involvement in political and civic life through efforts to strengthen platforms for discourse on key challenges facing the country and ways to engage constructively with government and political party leaders.

Description: To support democratic governance in Malaysia. The institute will implement a program to strengthen Malaysian political parties' operational and outreach capacities, thus contributing to stronger and more sustainable constituent outreach, strategic planning, and issue identification in the period in-between elections. The institute will also concurrently increase and amplify youth perspectives in the public sphere by providing youth with a platform through which to discuss and share unique perspectives on social, civic, and political issues.
