To continue strengthening key local independent media in Serbia and Kosovo. Endowment funds will subsidize the subscription to BETA news and photo services for 35 independent newspapers of the Association “Local Press” in Serbia. In Kosovo, BETA will provide its audio services to seven member stations of the KOSMA radio network and its video services to four members the TV network Mreza, both of which broadcast in Serbian.

Heartefact Fund

To strengthen the capacity of local NGOs in the Western Balkans to develop and implement initiatives for improving interethnic relations, promoting reconciliation, and addressing discrimination and corruption. The Fund will award approximately eight small grants to support innovative civil society initiatives addressing common problems facing societies in the region and enhancing cooperation between Bosnian, Kosovar, and Serbian NGOs, particularly in addressing discrimination and corruption.

Humanitarian Law Center
$50,000
To advance the process of ethnic and historical reconciliation in former Yugoslavia by building public support for the establishment of a regional post-conflict fact-finding body, RECOM. Within its broader advocacy efforts, the Center will use Endowment support to oversee the production and promotion of a regional multimedia outreach campaign.

Youth Initiative for Human Rights (YIHR) - Bosnia and Herzegovina

To advance the process of historical reconciliation and ethnic understanding in the region by encouraging public debate on war crimes committed in the 1990s. The YIHR BiH will produce the Srebrenica Map – an interactive guide depicting the unfolding of the July 1995 events – and extensively promote it as an educational tool in over a dozen events in four countries in the region.
