Damon Wilson

Damon Wilson is President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), America’s foundation for freedom around the world, which supports over 1,700 grants in more than 90 countries to advance fundamental freedoms, justice, and human rights. NED is a private, nonprofit foundation mandated by Congress to strengthen democratic institutions worldwide, including through its four core institutes: the International Republican Institute, National Democratic Institute, Center for International Private Enterprise, and Solidarity Center.

Before joining NED, Wilson served as Executive Vice President of the Atlantic Council; Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for European affairs at the National Security Council; Executive Secretary and Chief of Staff at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad; and Deputy Director in the private office of the NATO Secretary General. He began his career with Save the Children in Rwanda and at the U.S. State Department. He is a graduate of Duke University and Princeton’s School of Public and International Affairs.
