APDH will organize trainings in 10 local communities for NGOs to strengthen their advocacy and negotiation skills. APDH and their participants will also issue a report and conduct an advo­cacy campaign based on their assess­ment of accountability within the Ivoirian National Human Rights Commission.

Centre Féminin pour la Démocratie et les Droits Humains en Côte d’Ivoire

To strengthen the leadership capacity of women and those interested in run­ning for political office and increase the visibility of civil society organizations engaged in election monitoring. A subgrant to the Coordination des Femmes pour les Elections et la Reconstruction Post-Crise will ensure that women’s rights are respected by law enforcement and security personnel during the electoral period.

To promote regional laws of the Eco­nomic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) which protect the rights of West Africans to move with their goods throughout the sub-region, and publicize those laws within immi­grant and law enforcement communi­ties. COSOPCI will work in communities bordering Ghana, Liberia and Burkina Faso and provide free legal assistance to victims of crime and harassment.

Coalition Ivoirienne des Défenseurs des Droits Humains (CIDDH)

To promote and disseminate human rights instruments within CIDDH’s membership, as well as among law enforcement and security agencies. CIDDH will conduct trainings for organizations in Korhogo, Daloa, and Bouaké, on human rights and legal protections for human rights defend­ers. CIDDH members and other participants will form a network that will conduct a human rights education campaign targeting law enforcement and security agen­cies in Korhogo, Daloa, and Bouaké.

Mouvement Ivoirien des Droits Humains MIDH

To promote national and international laws that govern basic human rights afforded to people in detention, ameliorate liv­ing conditions in prisons through regu­lar monitoring, and advocate for better oversight of detention centers by the state and improved training of prison staff.

National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI)

To support Ivorians through the final stages of the electoral process by re­inforcing mechanisms for mitigating election-related conflict. NDI seeks to assist political parties in drawing upon lessons learned from the presidential poll as they prepare for the legislative elec­tions, notably by ensuring broad adherence to the provisions of the code of conduct and advocating for more women candi­dates for the 2010 legislative elections.

Organisation des Femmes Actives de Côte d’Ivoire (OFACI)

To promote women’s rights in Agnéby, Moyen Comoé, Sud Comoé, Haut Sas­sandra, and Sud Bandama, and educate women from those regions on national, regional, and international laws that support those rights. OFACI will con­duct a series of education campaigns that will underscore human rights in general with a special emphasis on women’s rights. OFACI will also create a structure that will monitor and pro­mote human rights and democracy.

Plate Forme des Femmes pour Gagner (PFG)

To promote women’s participation as traditional leaders and in decision-making institutions. PFG will conduct a campaign to reach a quota of 30 percent of women in decision-making positions; and will work with members of the coalition to train 30 women who will participate in intensive advocacy trainings and will lobby govern­ment officials for their support of a quota.

Regroupement des Acteurs Ivoiriens des Droits Humains (RAIDH)

To educate 120 youth leaders on human rights, democracy, non violence, and citizenship in Katiola, Guiglo, and Fer­kessedougou. RAIDH will engage youth in political parties and former combatants in the political process. RAIDH will continue its ongoing capacity building of local NGOs in the same towns, along with publish­ing its monthly newsletter Appel, which provides its readers pertinent informa­tion on human rights and democracy.

SOS Exclusion

To improve secondary school students’ understanding of and support for human rights and democracy, and advocate for peace and non-violent conflict resolution. SOS Exclusion will expand its human rights education for secondary school students to ten schools in the northern regions of Bondoukou and Gagnoa, and maintain human rights and democracy committees established with prior Endowment support in Abidjan, Bouaké, Daloao, and Korhogo.
