Antenna Foundation Nepal

To raise awareness and increase citi­zen participation in Nepal’s democratic process through the use of radio. Antenna Foundation will produce radio programs that allow listener engagement with program guests and provide local per­spectives on Nepal’s political transition. Antenna Foundation will also conduct capacity-building trainings for reporters and producers of local stations on the development of feature stories, which will be incorporated into the radio programs.

Center for International Private Enterprise

To enhance youth’s access to information on democratic and economic freedoms. CIPE and Samriddhi (The Prosperity Foundation), will introduce Nepalese youth to entrepreneurship so as to inspire new entrepreneurs who will act as the driv­ing force of economic development in the country. CIPE and Samriddhi will organize entrepreneurship workshops, support uni­versity clubs that promote entrepreneurial activity, and issue short publications.

Informal Sector Service Centre

To facilitate dialogue among constituents about the constitution-making process and ensure that the new constitution embod­ies human rights norms. The Informal Sector Service Center will support efforts to include citizen’s input into the constitution-making process, train Con­stituent Assembly members on inter­national human rights norms and their relevance to the constitution, and monitor Constituent Assembly proceedings.

Nepal National Dalit Social Welfare Organization

To promote Dalit rights and increase Dalit participation in the political pro­cess in rural Nepal. The NNDSWO will conduct a multi-faceted program, in­cluding advocacy, capacity-building and empowerment components to raise awareness among Dalits of their rights and encourage the full participation of Dalits in Nepali society and public life.

Samata Foundation
$30,525
To ensure that Nepal’s new constitu­tion includes protections for the rights of minority communities, particularly Dalits. Samata Foundation will monitor and ana­lyze Constituent Assembly proceedings for their inclusion of marginalized communi­ties’ rights and provide recommendations to ensure the protection of those rights.

Youth Action Nepal
$30,000
To enhance youth participation in democ­racy, human rights advocacy, and political affairs and to prepare youth leaders to impart their knowledge and encourage activism at the grassroots level. Youth Action Nepal will host a five-day study session on democracy and human rights and organize trainings and workshops on enhancing youth participation in the politi­cal process at the local and national level.
