Asociación Juventud para el Desarrollo (JUDES)

To facilitate dialogues with policy experts and members of congress to provide citizen input to ongoing legislative reform initiatives. JUDES will train citizen observers to monitor the legislative process, and will prepare reports and analyses on key pieces of legislation, including the electoral code, the political party law, and the judicial electoral process. JUDES will disseminate the information widely, and try to increase citizen advocacy efforts.
Asociación Nacional de la Prensa (ANP)

To strengthen its network through training and free legal aid to journalists. ANP will establish relations with other NGOs to develop a broad coalition to protect freedom of expression and access to information, and raise the visibility of these issues in the country. ANP will consolidate its public profile and institutional capacity by building relationships with media and journalist organizations in Bolivia and across the region.
Capacitación y Derechos Ciudadanos (CDC)

To promote the use of peaceful mechanisms for the management of land-related conflicts in three Bolivian departments. CDC will train government and civil society actors representing diverging positions on basic tools and concepts of peaceful conflict resolution. CDC will also provide specialized training to a group of 25 officials from the Institute of Agrarian Reform (INRA), a government agency in charge of implementing land reform.
Casa de La Mujer

To promote gender-sensitive local government budgets in the department of Santa Cruz. Casa de la Mujer will empower women to participate more actively in local decision-making and advocate for budgets that are sensitive to women’s needs and priorities. Casa de la Mujer will also work with men to change a patriarchal perceptions and promote gender equity.
Green Cross Bolivia

To raise awareness on indigenous justice systems among university law professors, and strengthen democratic values and principles among indigenous authorities in the department of Santa Cruz. Green Cross Bolivia will work with public and private universities to update law school curriculums and include information on indigenous justice. It will also disseminate this information through local bar associations, and promote the respect of human rights among indigenous authorities making judicial decisions.
Instituto de Desarrollo y Gobernabilidad (IDG)

To provide training to and facilitate dialogue among youth. IDG will evaluate public perceptions on group and national identity among university students. Using this information, IDG will provide trainings, facilitate dialogues and organize an essay contest to increase a culture of mutual respect, dialogue and multiculturalism among youth. Finally, IDG will organize gatherings with youth of different ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds at the regional and national level.
Instituto Socioambiental – Bolivia (ISA-Bolivia)

To strengthen the organizational, technical and oversight capacity of community leaders to implement indigenous self-governance, and promote the exchange of information and experiences among target indigenous municipalities in the highlands of Bolivia. ISA-Bolivia will work with indigenous leaders to put into action their first public management experience. Through a needs assessment, tailored training program and development plan, ISA-Bolivia will work with future public officials and current indigenous authorities to implement an indigenous governance structure.
International Republican Institute (IRI)

To improve Bolivian municipal public officials’ ability to develop local problem-solving strategies that serve citizens’ needs, inform key stakeholder groups and Bolivian citizens on key issues affecting local level governance and elicit proposals on how to solve these, and coordinate these activities between strategic partner cities to expand the influence of democratic governance practices.
Oficina Jurídica para la Mujer (OJM)

To offer free legal assistance to women, provide training on the new legal framework to women leaders, first responders and other decision-makers, and monitor Bolivia’s compliance with ratified human rights agreements and conventions. In coordination with grassroots organizations, OJM will draft a shadow report on the state of human rights in Bolivia, and present it before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.
SAYARIY

To promote greater transparency and accountability in local government expenditures in seven municipalities of Chuquisaca Department through independent and participatory citizen oversight. Sayariy will sign cooperative agreements with the mayor’s offices to field an observer to witness all financial transactions, deliberations and meetings regarding public spending. Sayariy will also work to strengthen the capacity of local oversight committees so they can conduct regular and effective monitoring activities.
