The National Endowment for Democracy’s 2018 Democracy Award honored the civil society movement for human rights and democracy in North Korea by recognizing the work of four organizations.

The National Endowment for Democracy presented a screening of the documentary film "Mustafa", and hosted a conversation with the film's subject and human rights activist, Mustafa Dzhemilev. Following the screening, Mustafa Dzhemilev was awarded the Democracy Service Medal.
