Mr. Michael Navallo is a multi-platform journalist who most recently served as an anchor for the Manila-based ABS-CBN News Channel. As ABS-CBN’s justice beat reporter, he covered the persecution and prosecution of several politicians and journalists. He also headed the ABS-CBN chapter of the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines. A lawyer by training, he previously worked in litigation and as a research consultant for Amnesty International. In 2017, he was awarded a Reham Al-Farra Memorial Journalism Fellowship by the United Nations, during which he covered the Rohingya refugee crisis in Bangladesh. During his fellowship, Mr. Navallo intends to examine how the Philippine opposition lost the May 2022 presidential polls and what lessons it could learn from recent electoral experiences in Brazil and beyond.
