Democracy Service Medal Presentation to the Honorable Vin Weber from National Endowment for Democracy on Vimeo.
The National Endowment for Democracy honored its former Chairman Vin Weber with the presentation of the Democracy Service Medal at a Capitol Hill ceremony on July 20, 2010.
“Democracy needs people like Vin Weber who are fervent in their convictions, moderate in their behavior, and vigilant in their defense of democratic values,” said NED president Carl Gershman.
“These are attributes that have anchored American democracy since its founding and that are today shared by people throughout the world who are striving to live in freedom.”
Leading Democrats, including former secretary of state Madeleine Albright and House Foreign Affairs Committee chairman Howard Berman (D-CA), joined prominent Republicans like Senator John Kyl (R-AZ) and Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI) to affirm that support for advancing democracy transcends partisan politics. :: more
