About the Event
On April 23, the International Forum for Democratic Studies of the National Endowment for Democracy brought together academic experts on Kyrgyzstan and on comparative constitutional design along with a number of individuals from the NGO community, including NED, who specialize in providing democratic assistance to Kyrgyzstan and other countries in Central Asia.
The half‐day workshop assessed the state of the democratic transition in Kyrgyzstan following the recent uprising against President Kurmanbek Bakiev’s undemocratic regime, and the issues and options in the current debate on a new democratic constitution for Kyrgyzstan.
