Bryan Furman

Foreign Service Officer, U.S. Department of State

Bryan Furman is a fourth-tour public diplomacy officer serving as one of three Special Assistants to the Secretary of State.  He previously worked as a Watch Officer in the State Department Operations Center, where Bryan supported Operation Allies Welcome and the U.S. government response to Russia’s aggression in Ukraine.  Before that, Bryan was an Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer at U.S. Embassy Kyiv and Vice Consul at U.S. Embassy Dhaka.  Bryan holds an M.A. in Eurasian, Russian, and East European studies from Georgetown University and a B.A. in psychology and international studies from The College of New Jersey.  He is an alumnus of the Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Foreign Affairs Fellowship, Fulbright U.S. Student, and Boren Scholar programs.
