Galen Petruso
Researcher, Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA)
Galen Petruso is a researcher at the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA). Since joining IDA in 2017, Galen’s work has focused on developing and implementing methodologies to tackle pressing national security questions and providing recommendations for decision-makers. His research has covered a wide range of topic areas, including European and African security affairs, stability and governance issues, and emerging technologies. Prior to joining IDA, Galen served in a variety of roles supporting policymaking at the U.S. Departments of Defense and Homeland Security. His work in these roles included crafting political and military analyses and collaborating with foreign counterparts in furtherance of U.S. international efforts. Galen holds a B.A. in international affairs from The George Washington University.
