Washington, DC — The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Golightly as the Senior Director of Financial Management & Integration. Golightly brings over 23 years of broad-based U.S. and international nonprofit experience in financial operations management and audit. Golightly joined the NED staff on October 28, 2014.
“We are delighted that Laura Golightly has joined our team. Her expertise and background makes her extraordinarily qualified to lead NED’s efforts to streamline financial management,” said Bill Leonard, Chief Operating Officer at NED.
Golightly most recently served in the conflict transformation niche as CFO for Search for Common Ground, and for six years as Pact’s Director of Global Finance, lending her financial expertise to their capacity building activities worldwide in the sectors of health, livelihoods, and natural resource management. She also served as CFO in the primary healthcare, education and social services field for Mary’s Center for Maternal & Childcare, and supporting those with developmental disabilities at National Children’s Center here in Washington, DC. Previously Laura worked in Chicago, where she served for over 9 years as CFO for Pioneer Center for Human Services in the behavioral health and developmental disabilities arena. Laura is a CPA and CGMA , having graduated cum laude at North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting. Laura is a member of the AICPA as well as the Greater Washington Society of CPAs.
The NED is a private, nonprofit foundation dedicated to the growth and strengthening of democratic institutions around the world. Each year, with funding from the U.S. Congress, NED makes more than 1,000 grants in support of projects carried out by non-governmental groups working for democratic goals in more than 90 countries.
