Grantee Spotlight: Stevan Dojcinovic and KRIK Earn Global Journalism Award

Congratulations to Stevan Dojcinovic, Editor-in-Chief of the Crime and Corruption Reporting Network (KRIK) and National Endowment for Democracy grantee. He was a member of a team that won the international Award for Investigative Journalism awarded by the Global Network of Investigative Journalists.

From Democracy Digest:

A year-long investigation exposed how Montenegro’s once-untouchable Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic and his family bank are at the center of an unholy alliance of government, organized crime, and business, the Global Investigative Journalism Network reports. Far from a model candidate for the European Union, the probe revealed that Montenegro in effect functions as a mafia state.

The Unholy Alliances investigation has now earned Editor-in-Chief Stevan Dojcinovic and his team at Montenegro’s Crime and Corruption Reporting Network (KRIK) the Global Shining Light Award for Investigative Journalism. The prize, awarded by the Global Network of Investigative Journalists, honors investigative journalism conducted in a developing or transitioning country, done under threat, duress, or in the direst of conditions.
