To promote accountability and human rights in Togo. The grantee will create a manual on human rights laws and provide a training on human rights monitoring and documentation techniques. After the training, participants will conduct a data collection mission to record incidents of human rights violations. Finally, the grantee will maintain its online candidate promise tracker and measure how closely government officials have adhered to their promises to respect human rights.

To promote accountability. The organization will host a webinar to discuss existing citizen survey tools, prepare survey questions, and then create an interactive online platform to track campaign promises. After a training on data collection methodology, a team of civil society activists, journalists, and citizen volunteers will gather opinions on governance, development, and other topics and publish the findings in reports. After the reports are validated, follow up advocacy meetings with local authorities will be held to ensure the government is accountable to citizen needs.

Defending Human Rights

To monitor and defend human rights in Togo. The organization will document human rights abuses committed under the COVID 19 state of emergency and more broadly throughout the country. The organization will conduct five trainings on human rights documentation techniques and compile incidents in quarterly reports for use in advocacy discussions with local authorities and international human rights organizations.

To increase capacity for businesses across Africa to manage their operations ethically and with integrity and enable businesses to resist corruption. The center will support a range of activities that include building private sector anti-corruption coalitions, developing management systems against corruption, raising awareness about the importance of business ethics and ethical African companies, and improve the regulatory environment through collective action.
