To promote financial transparency and accountability of political leaders regarding domestic and foreign investment. The organization will produce and disseminate a series of investigative articles and a documentary examining cases of misuse of political power – particularly those related to foreign-funded investments and infrastructure projects. The organization will distribute the articles and documentary free of charge to media outlets, relevant civil society groups, and government agencies.

 

Human Rights Action

Advancing the Process of Transitional Justice

$63,000

To advance the process of transitional justice. The organization will monitor investigations and trials in local war crimes chambers as well as proceedings for war crimes victims’ rights to compensation. The organization will monitor the implementation of the war crimes strategy and draft recommendations to improve it. Working with similar organizations and victims’ associations, the group will produce an alternative report about the state’s compliance with international conventions on war crimes and will also convene trainings for judges and prosecutors.

 

International Republican Institute (IRI)

Expanding Youth Political Inclusion and Amplifying Youth Voice

$500,000

To support meaningful youth participation in political parties, the Institute will work with key governing and opposition parties to strengthen the organizational, communications, and policy development capacity of Montenegrin party youth wings and better incorporate youth priorities into parties policy processes. To prepare youth to participate in party politics, the Institute will build the capacity of rising youth political leaders so they can contribute as responsible political actors in Montenegro’s democratic development.
